Song of a Paper Crane

Colorful 1,000 folded cranes are always contributed around the Children's Peace Monument, Memorial Tower for Mobilized Students, etc., located in Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima City. Contained in these hosts of folded cranes are the pure prayers for peace of the children, who folded paper cranes with heart and soul.

At the same time, it seems that the spirits of the victims of atomic bombing are incarnating in the form of folded cranes to say something as peace messengers.

In lyrics, the folded cranes sing;

"We cannot fly in the air since we are cranes made of folded papers. However, we've become able to soar on the sky moved by your heart and soul prayers reaching my chest to restore me to life with the warmth of your tears shed for those who died.

We'll wing our way toward each and every one of you to become friends across the world and sing songs praying for lasting peace."

This song may be said an elegant lyrical work belonging to the realm of Märchen.

However, the highlight of this song is the finale, after all. We can imagine a host of folded cranes flap their wings in unison for flight and glide through air; which is very attractive giving us tremendous impact.

We believe we have mission to fulfill as individuals who experienced the calamities of atomic bombing so as not to repeat that costly folly, with a solemn vow that the tragedy must never happen again. If everyone of the world tries all together to turn into a folded crane, cultivate the mind of peace, take action, and pray for peace, lasting peace would not be a daydream.
